Anyone running for a seat on the district council or city or municipal council must meet the eligibility criteria. Proof of this must be provided when submitting nominations.

Are you entitled to vote and would like to vote in a different polling station or take part in the election by postal vote? Then you must apply for a polling card.

As a citizen of the European Union living in Germany, you can vote in the European elections if you are registered on the electoral roll.

If you have German citizenship, are entitled to vote and are returning to Germany from abroad, you can have yourself entered on the electoral roll for the
European elections if the requirements for registration are not met ex officio.

As a German citizen, you can also register on the electoral roll for the European elections if you live abroad.

For the European elections, you will be entered on the electoral roll as a German citizen, either ex officio or on application.

Nominations for local elections may be amended up to the deadline for submission. Election proposals may be withdrawn until they are approved. The responsible election committee decides on the approval of the nominations.

Before each election, the municipal electoral authority draws up a voters' register for each electoral district, in which all eligible voters are entered.

Are you eligible to vote in the state election in Mecklenburg-Vorpommern and would like to vote by mail or on Election Day in a different polling place within your electoral district? If so, you will need a voter registration card.
