We advise children, adolescents, guardians, teachers and educators on issues related to maintaining the health of the dental, oral and maxillofacial region.

The tasks of the dental service group include:

Legally required preventive dental examinations in day care centers and schools.
On the basis of the examination results the following statements can be made
1. diseases of the dental hard tissue (caries)
2. diseases of soft tissues (gingivitis, periodontitis)
3. need for orthodontic treatment

Implementation of group prophylaxis
These are measures for the detection and prevention of dental diseases, which are primarily carried out in groups from the age of 3 to 12 (SGB V, §21).
The focus is on age-appropriate instruction in dental care through theoretical and practical impulses.

• Intensive prophylaxis
• more frequent implementation of prophylactic measures
• no age limit for special students

Public advisory services

• Further training of multipliers such as parents, teachers, educators
• Activities within the framework of the district working group for youth dental care
• Information for pregnant women and mothers/fathers of small children in the form of individual and group consultations.
• Cooperation with all Schwerin childminders, midwives and family helpers

Health reporting
In order to assess oral health in the Schwerin catchment area, the results of dental examinations and prophylactic and curative services are recorded and evaluated in writing and, in accordance with data protection regulations, are forwarded on request to the Ministry of Social Affairs and Health and the Federal Ministry of Health, among others.
