The specialist fire and rescue service is on hand around the clock to help the citizens of Schwerin and all visitors when rapid assistance is needed in the event of fires, accidents or medical emergencies. The units of the professional fire department, the five volunteer fire departments, the rescue service and the disaster control service are bundled here. The specialist service also operates the integrated control center for fire and disaster protection as well as the rescue service for Schwerin and on behalf of the districts of Nordwestmecklenburg and Ludwigslust-Parchim. The staff there take all emergency calls under 112 and also coordinate qualified ambulance services.

In the area of preventive fire and hazard protection, building owners and designers are advised and fire protection is assessed during construction work. In the course of fire prevention inspections, the fire protection of particularly endangered objects is regularly checked. In addition, we perform many other tasks relating to emergency response and hazard prevention.
