SDS-Stadtwirtschaftliche Dienstleistungen Schwerin, the municipal enterprise of the state capital Schwerin, was founded at the beginning of 2001 to handle cemetery and burial services. Since 2004, the Eigenbetrieb has also been responsible for fulfilling the sovereign tasks of the public waste disposal company in waste disposal and street cleaning in Schwerin. In 2006, the areas of street maintenance and public green spaces, playgrounds and biotopes were additionally assigned to the Eigenbetrieb. In 2008, the maintenance of the municipal club sports areas as well as the bathing areas and beaches was included in the task profile of SDS. Furthermore, SDS supervises new construction measures of green spaces and tourist infrastructure from the investment budget of the state capital Schwerin within the scope of project management.
