In order to take a master craftsman's examination, you must apply for admission to the examination.

If you wish to take your final examination, you must apply for admission to the final examination at the office responsible for you.

If you wish to provide certain services in another EU country, some EU countries (e.g., Austria, Belgium, Luxemburg) require the EU qualifications certificate as proof of your professional experience.

If you wish to focus on a non-essential activity of a craft requiring a license and have relevant journeyman training, you must be entered in the register of your local Chamber of Crafts.

You may have a legitimate interest in obtaining information from the register of owners of a business in an unlicensed craft or a craft-like trade. You can obtain this information from the relevant Chamber of Crafts.

As an employer who employs trainees, you must have their vocational training entered in the register of vocational training relationships.

Publicly appointed experts are all persons who have been appointed and sworn in by a public-law institution.

In order to receive confirmation of your qualification modules, you as the provider of the module must submit an application.

Nationals of the EU, another contracting state to the Agreement on the European Economic Area and Switzerland who do not maintain a commercial establishment in Germany may practice a craft subject to licensing in Germany.

If you employ trainees as an employer, you must enter their vocational training in the register of vocational training relationships and, if necessary, update it or have it changed.

If you have completed a journeyman's or final examination in a recognized skilled trade and have qualified professional experience, you can become self-employed or take on a managerial role in most skilled trades requiring a license.

Are you registered in the register of skilled crafts with a craft that requires authorization and would like to practice another craft? Then you can apply for a license to practice another craft under certain conditions.

The Chamber of Skilled Crafts issues practice authorizations in accordance with Section 7a of the Crafts Code for entry in the Register of Skilled Crafts for another craft requiring a license or in accordance with Section 7b of the Crafts Code to journeymen who have been working for many years.

If you would like to practice a craft that does not require a license or a trade similar to a craft on a self-employed basis, you must notify your Chamber of Skilled Crafts of the start of your commercial activity.

You would like to be entered in the register of skilled crafts and trades as an owner or proprietor or as a company manager, but the master craftsman's examination is an unreasonable burden? Then you may be able to apply for an exemption.

If the operation of a craft or craft-like trade is no longer to be continued, you must apply to your Chamber of Crafts for deletion.

If the current management stops or changes, you must report this to the Chamber of Skilled Crafts.

Are you from another EU/EEA country or Switzerland and would like to practice a craft requiring a license in Germany? Then you can have your professional experience and training certificates recognized in Germany under certain conditions.

If you have already reported the cross-border provision of skilled trade services subject to licensing for the first time, you must notify us before the end of the year if you wish to continue providing these services in the following year without any significant changes.

After you have already notified the cross-border provision of skilled trade services subject to authorization, you must also notify any significant changes before the changed provision of services.

If you are a craftsman or craftswoman from the European Union, the European Economic Area or Switzerland and wish to temporarily provide craft services requiring a license in Germany without having a branch here, you must report this.

If you are a member of a Chamber of Skilled Crafts and change the address of a business premises, you must inform the Chamber of Skilled Crafts.

You must notify the relevant Chamber of Skilled Crafts of any new management of your craft business subject to licensing.

As the training provider, you must enter every training contract for a recognized training occupation in the vocational training register and have it deleted in the event of premature termination.

If you would like to take a master craftsman's examination in a craft or similar trade that does not require a license, you must submit an application for admission to the examination.

If you are a member of a Chamber of Skilled Crafts and the personal or company-related data recorded there changes, you must inform the Chamber of Skilled Crafts of this.

There are around 200 different occupations in the skilled trades in Germany. A specific professional qualification is required for 41 professions in the skilled trades.

After gaining an initial professional qualification, you can obtain a furtherfurther training examination, you can acquire a further nationallyrecognized vocational training qualification.

Your intermediate examination takes place about halfway through the training period. The intermediate examination is a knowledge assessment and is intended to provide you and the training company with feedback on the knowledge you have acquired to date.

You complete your retraining with the retraining examination. By passing the final examination, you demonstrate your professional ability to act in a specific occupation.

The register of craftsmen, the register of trades not requiring a license and the register of trades similar to crafts are registers of all owners of a standing trade in the trades in the area of the responsible Chamber of Crafts.

The chambers promote the implementation of vocational training preparation, vocational training, and vocational retraining by providing guidance to all parties involved.
