Referendum is the means of putting a bill from a referendum petition to a vote after it has been rejected by the state parliament.

Nominations for local elections may be amended up to the deadline for submission. Election proposals may be withdrawn until they are approved. The responsible election committee decides on the approval of the nominations.

Before each election, the municipal electoral authority draws up a voters' register for each electoral district, in which all eligible voters are entered.

The residents' petition is a means for residents to exert influence. Residents can use a residents' petition to request that the municipal council or district council deal with certain matters.

Election results are determined in the constituency by the electoral committee and subsequently the election result in the constituency by the district electoral committee and the election result in the state by the state electoral committee.

If a district electoral committee rejects a district nomination in whole or in part, any representative of the rejected nomination, the district returning officer and the state returning officer may lodge a complaint by 6 p.m. on the 45th day before the election.

Citizens entitled to vote who, on election day, lead the election proceedings as election assistants in the election committees and determine the provisional election results in the electoral district.
